Reminder for client note

You used to be able to select a date to receive a reminder when placing a note in a customer’s file. That ability has mysteriously disappeared. Not sure why it had to go away, it was a useful function. I’m a hairstylist and if I booked a client’s appointment several weeks out, I could make a note to follow up with them a couple weeks before their appointment to see if there were any changes with what they were wanting to do. I would get an email and app notification of the date I selected. Now I have to go back to POST IT NOTES do do something that Square used to have. Not sure how I feel about traveling backwards with technology.

I spoke with some members of the Appointments team, and they did confirm that there is still an option to leave a note. However, the advised that it wasn't possible to set a reminder like you described. Do you happen to have a screenshot, or do you know if you ever used an integrated third party app that may have allowed you to receive a calendar notification?

I do not use a 3rd party app. In the customer file, there is a “Notes” field. You used to be able to create a note and below the text box, you could create a date to have a reminder sent. That would come via email and app push notification. I have put this query in a Facebook group with other Appointments users and some say the option to send a reminder is still there, others say it is not there. This is using the Appointments app on a phone or iPad.

To confirm, the note field previoulsy had an option to click on a calender date to setup a notification, correct? Can you check the information for the app on your device and verify the version number you are using?

Yes, confirming that I was previously able to make a note in the customer file and select a date to be reminded about it. Now, that option to set a reminder is no longer there. I am using Appointments version 6.32 
this video shows what it currently looks like.

Thank you for sharing this video. Our Appointments team tells us that this field has never included a reminder feature.

 

Do you remember when was the last time you used this feature? And also, what did those reminders look like when you received them in the past?

It HAD been a feature. I’m getting input from other Appointments users online and I have a screenshot that another user posted showing the REMINDER clearly below the text box. I will also share a screenshot from my iPhone where there is NOT an option for a reminder.
When signing in on a browser/desktop, the REMINDER option shows when placing a Note.

Here with an update for you @LusterSalon.

 

At this time our engineers have confirmed that this feature was not included in the latest iOS update of the Square Appointments app. The reason this other user has that option available is because Android and Square Hardware still have the feature available. 

 

However, I can also let you know that they are working on bringing this feature back in a future update. I want to apologize for this experience and thank you for reporting it and providing the screenshots.
