Need to remove Owner from Appointment Schedule

I would really like to be able to remove the owner from the appointment schedule.  She doesn't take appointments and when we are scheduling our clients it always defaults the clients' appointment to the owner's schedule instead of the correct stylist/staff member.  Several times we have accidently double booked our clients, and it has created huge embarrassments, a chaotic schedule and very upset clients.  Please fix this.  I would image other salons have owners that do not take appointments.  Also please fix designating the owner as the Staff member whenever a client is scheduled for a service.  It should be blank and forces the person booking the appointment to have to choose a team member for each bookable service.  It is a huge inconvenience and causes many scheduling conflicts because your system automatically defaults to one specific team member when booking a client.

Hey @TosisHair

So you should be able to remove them from appointments.  If you log in to the Square Dashbarod then choose Staff & Payroll.  From there, click on the owner, followed by clicking on the appointments in the top right of their profile. You can either remove their Bookable Hours or if you scroll all the way down there will be a red box to remove from appointments.  I haven't tried it but I would assume that would remove them from all future bookings.

Let me know if that helped out. I know all too well of double booking by accident when it's already chaotic.

Removing the owner from Appointments is still not allowed.  You will get an error if you attempt it.

This is incredibly frustrating.  Let me explain my use-case;  I do take appointments as the business owner, but sometimes need to leave the calendar open in a browser.  This is an obvious security risk given that it is the owner account, so I created another user for myself with limited access to use for my appointments.  Unfortunately, now I have two users under my name with no way of removing the owner account.  Now employees see two accounts for me when booking appointments.

I'm confused as to why the product team hasn't escalated this by now.  Its been an open thread for years...  It doesn't seem like there is much development going on with Square Appointments and I'm starting to become concerned that that i'm invested in a platform that isn't progressing.

Hello.

I have already removed the owner from all available bookings.  I never added a bookable schedule or any available hours to her profile/schedule. I also made sure her schedule showed no available hours to work.  I hope I explained it well enough.

However, when booking an appointment, it always defaults to the owner's schedule who does not take appointments.  We do not display the owners schedule on the front calendar screen (she doesn't take appointments, so it isn't necessary) so that the rest of the girl's appointments appear larger and easier to read on the screen.  The girls then book another client in a non-available slot because they don't know that they already have someone scheduled in that slot but don't see it because the client's appointment defaulted to the owner's schedule that isn't seen on the screen.

I am just hoping that the Square technical team sees this and can help us out with it.  I would think that other businesses would have the same issue.  Considering our prior owner didn't except appointments either I image that a lot of business owners don't actually sit behind the chair and take appointments so why default to someone's schedule that doesn't even have one!!!

Thanks for trying to help though.  I really appreciate it.

They have still not fixed this issue. I own a tattoo shop and I'm not a bookable artist. My other gripe is that I am the default artist to ring up a tattoo sale under. You have to manually adjust the employee to make the sale for. You should get a forced option on who to attribute the sale to (like many other systems) . This is very frustrating because you can not transfer a sale after it is completed. Now, I will be 1099 for these sales I was not involved in at the end of the year! Aaaaand Square's fix so the correct artist 1099 for end of the year is to fudge a payroll with the amount and not pay it. So this is going to mess up my reports and have inaccurate sales. I also own a bar and have worked with many POS systems over my decades of the service industry. This is just dumb. I never would've bought into Square with previous knowledge of these issues. Who would think to add ridiculous questions like this when I had a long list I asked before I signed on. Also the tips aren't going to the correct artist in Square Payroll and the pay amount is incorrect 50% of the time. We have to go through each sale for the week to check to see if they're accurate and many times they are not.So I'm paying for the payroll service and having to do what I'm paying for myself . I would not recommend Square for use in anything beside possibly a one person business.  Probably would still say stay away from Square. I'm currently deciding to just eat the cost of the equipment and jump ship to another system. What a pain in the rump "/ Square your (help) sucks.
