Hey,
I'm a long time Square user for my photography business. For the last almost 10 years I've had very few issues using Square to process all of my payments and scheduling my team. Recently it feels like every new batch of updates removed some of the functionality of the calendar and dashboard. The most recent one removed my ability to modify all existing appointments, because we take payment in full at the time of booking, as we always have since we started using Square. This has really effected my business and ability to serve my customers in a timely manner. Previously if a client wanted to add or change a service on their appointment, I could easily go in, adjust the appointment, send an email/text notification with the change and then charge the card or invoice accordingly. Now none of that is possible. All of my appointments are locked to where I cannot add or modify the services. I've called Square support twice about this issue, the first time they "fixed" it for a week and now this Monday I was back to being locked out. My latest phone call I was told that this is just part of the latest update, part of Square's policy (that didn't exist until 3 weeks ago?) and they would escalate my issue with their support team. The workaround I was provided was to delete my customer's entire appointment, make sure I have all of their appointment detailed written down first (name, email, phone, address, town, zip code, and service), recreate the entire appointment and mark it as paid in the notes because the original payment is tied to the now deleted appointment. I don't understand how Square thinks this is a more streamline was of managing appointments and services. This also creates a bookkeeping headache trying to keep track of what's been paid for and what hasn't now that I have to fully delete appointments in order to modify services when requested by my customer. Has anyone found a better workaround than the one Square has provided me?
Appointments has long taken a backseat to Retail and F&B.
Having said that, there has been a lot of organizational changes with the hope of increasing the feedback loop.
I recommend posting these requests to the Feature Requests boards, and I will be sure to let other Appointment based sellers know to kudo it.
Thank you for the suggestion!
Hey @FDPsupportforme @TCSlaguna, I've flagged this to our team as well to get clarification on what's happening. I'm also checking with them whether we can use deposit as a workaroud i.e. instead of charging the full appointment up front, you could charge a deposit instead which in theory should still let you edit the appointments as needed.
Once I have more information to share, and confirmation on better workaround, I'll follow up on this thread!
Hi, thank you for your response! I would really love if Square could correct this new issue they have created without me needing to change my businesses' booking policy that I've had for over a decade. One of the reasons I loved using Square was that I no longer had to chase clients to pay invoices. I hope maybe there's a way for them to reverse or change this recent update so the appointments function can go back to it's original functionality.
