Feature Request: Google Calendar Sync for Classes

Hello! I just started using Square Appointments because it finally appeared to have some functionality that I required that hadn't been available in the past, though I am admittedly a little bit perplexed by what I am experiencing so far.

I am wondering if there are any plans to have Classes appear in the Google Calendar sync the same way that Appointments do? Since they can be assigned to a particular staff it would be incredibly helpful if the class could sync to that staff member's calendar.

Also, is there a method to restrict how far in advance classes can be booked (similar to how regular appointments can be restricted)? Or would the only existing workaround to be to only release a certain number of repeating classes at one time rather than setting it to indefinitely repeat?

Hi @riff, thank you for your post!

Currently classes aren't synced with the Google Calendar integration, and at this point, we do not have this on our timeline to implement.

In regard to 'how far in advanced can a buyer book', you are correct that currently you can't set this. Your workaround would be the best approach (to only add to calendar when you want buyers to be able to book).

I hope this helps a bit, and hopefully the integration you mentioned can be integrated at a point soon! In the meantime, please let me know if you end up having any other questions or concerns. I am here to help.

Thank you for the reply! It is quite inconvenient to not have the classes sync with the calendar when staff can be assigned both appointments and classes but only the appointments show up.

Along a similar thread, is there any way for the customer to see how many classes they have remaining after purchasing a package? It seems as though classes do not show up in the customer’s “upcoming” or “previous appointments” under their account.

I understand, and do apologize we don't have a way around that.

In regard to your second question you sent over, customers are able to see how many credits are remaining in their packages by signing into their Square profile. Here is a helpful YouTube video going over that, as well. Here also is some other information on selling and redeeming Packages.

Please let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime!

I also need classes to sync with Google calendar or I need Square to make a way to show a calendar view instead if list on my site and I need a class calendar that can integrate into an action button on social media instead of appointments. Frankly it's not acceptable that these basic functions aren't available, it makes it extremely difficult to advertise classes without them.

I completely agree! The class feature lacks all of the functions that I assumed would be available based on the precedent set by the appointment features.

At the bare minimum, since apparently having the ability for staff to know whether the class they are assigned to teach is going to run or not (or avoiding accidentally booking conflicting appointments or personal events because the classes are essentially invisible) isn’t a priority for the software it would be really great if we could turn on booking notifications for the classes in the meantime, where the staff or the owner could choose to get an email or in-app notification when someone registers for a class or cancels their registration, just like we get a notification when customers book regular appointments. The functionality of the class features overall is quite disappointing so far, I held off on upgrading my subscription to include appointments for years because they didn’t have a class option or package option when I first looked into it, both of which are essential features of my business, and now that they do (even though it’s still considered “beta”) I find myself quite frustrated that I am now paying extra for a service that lacks basic functionalities that I would consider essential to the feature and “are not on Square’s timeline to implement”. It is incredibly unacceptable and I would even say borders on false advertising as the feature is currently almost useless are required multiple workarounds that make my life more difficult rather than simplifying things which is the intention of switching to a digital software.
