January Check In

January for me is not about rushing, it's about pausing and really listening.  As women in business, we've learned how to push.  This month I challenge each of you to learn how to pause with a purpose.  So, here's my question ladies:

What's one thing you're intentionally leaving behind in 2025 so you can lead more aligned, rested, and rooted this year?  It could be a habit, a belief, a boundary you're strengthening, or pressure you're releasing.

Let's start the year together, grounded, and clear!  Happy 2026!!!!

I feel the same about January; definitely a month to pause and slow down.

One thing I am going to leave behind is to stop putting so much pressure on myself with unrealistic goals every day.  I always go into the week/day with a plan on what needs to be done.  It usually never goes according to plan because 10 other things happen during the day, but I still tell myself I didn't get done what I planned and then I beat myself up for not being on plan.  So, this year, I still have a "plan" for the week but instead of focusing wholly on the "plan" at the end of the day I am making a list of all I did accomplish.

Thanks for the reminder because this is definitely something I struggle with in my business and personal life.  What I've started doing in making a list of things I feel need to be done.  Depending on the number of items, I break that down into the top 3-5 things that can't wait (have to get down that day).  The next day I take that list and do the same thing.  You only add things to the main list if you really have to.  Each day I celebrate what I did accomplish whether it's the whole list or not. Happy New Year and continue to celebrate and give yourself some grace.

Trying to remember I am only one person and I don’t need to be there 24/7 or sweat the small stuff. The store runs just fine if I’m not there. Balancing out personal life and work life has always been my main goal to work on for 10 plus years 😳🤷‍♀️This year was probably my biggest achievement in this area. Realizing a better rested body and mind for myself was 💯 better for the store and staff. Trying to remember, I am only one person and I don’t need to be there 24/7 or sweat the small stuff. Oh my God @Twpchair I'm trying so hard to remind myself daily that the store will run just fine without me. This year I'm giving more responsibility to my son who's been asking me to give him a day to run the store alone.  It will be a big step for me, but it will give me time to focus on personal goals of mine.

Echoing a lot here but taking time to rest and recharge. I'm not gonna lie 2025 was hard- truly running top speed to stay in place- sales were slightly up and costs through roof... time to start pacing myself and finding pockets of enjoyment.

I think we forget sometimes with the busyness of everything our why for starting this entrepreneur journey.  I know for me it was the flexibility of being able to do other things I enjoyed and not just work.  I work more now than I ever did when I had a job.  Pacing ourselves, giving grace, and finding those pockets of enjoyment is a damn good goal for 2026.
