Issue: Square (Block, Inc.) has been withholding approximately $80,000 of my business funds since November 24th, 2024, without justification and without responding to my messages. They are also demanding that I refund ( $19,000) to customers for transactions that were already fulfilled, picked up in person, and signed for by the customers.
What happened:
Square placed a hold on my account on November 24th and froze nearly $80,000 in sales revenue. I provided all requested documentation, including signed pickup sheets proving the customers received their items. Square then instructed me to refund those same customers in order to release my funds, even though the customers physically received their merchandise. Issuing refunds for completed and signed-for orders would create false records and disputes.
Despite multiple attempts on my part to communicate, Square stopped responding completely, leaving my funds inaccessible while offering no timeline, explanation, or resolution.
Impact on my business:
The withheld funds have caused major cash-flow problems, delays in payroll, inability to purchase inventory, and significant operational harm.
