Check out the 2 screenshots i took. Receive the email this morning from" #432 Square Inc"
We didn't send or request any refunds this week at all. The body and content of the e-mail looks off also. Look at the sent from email and the footer section.
lol poor attempt?
Thanks for sharing this @HealthySF9, you're right this email isn't from Square. (It's all in the detail!)
@ryanwanner's advice is correct too (thank you!), and as he mentions if you haven't already please forward the email to [email protected].
If you or anyone else reading this receives a suspicous email, text or call, you can refer to this Support Center article which has tips for how to recognize phishing scams.
From what you shard of the screenshots, those look pretty close to emails from Square that business owners should get when processing a refund.
Best way to check: all email communications from Square should come from the email address [email protected]. If it didn't please forward the emails to [email protected]
Hope this helps!

Now this email is different than most spam/phishing emails. This email has a Real business name and address at the bottom, why I don't know as that just makes the email even weirder. At first, I thought maybe it was a legit refund email sent to the wrong Square business, but it is similar but not the same as what the email is (there isn't the company detail information at the bottom). so a weird attempt at a phishing email.
ok, looking more at it the email address is [email protected] and that is the guy's name that runs the company so either their email got hacked or someone is spoofing their email address. Why someone would spoof their email address while trying to impersonate Square doesn't make sense.
I just received one from an address [email protected]
That's almost certainly a spoof. Please forward the email to [email protected].
I received 2 emails today stating the refund that was requested ( by a company that is just in my contacts- not an actual customer)
it stated the refund for 96.09 was being processed- it looks like a square email and said “view refund” which I am not clicking on , although curious- I have not had a 96 sale - theses scammers need to be thrown in jail - how can I report the emails ? Who do I give the info to?
c hill
Is this a scam email?
Hey @Bjfree2go thanks for asking about this. This email is not from Square, so please forward it to [email protected] and do not click on any links from that email! We will be able to investigate the phishing scam once you forward the email.
Thank you!
I have been receiving these emails as well. One was in the amount of $1725.00. The nerve they got, trying to scam people smh.
