Hi,
Could we have the option activated on the UK loyalty dashboard to enable email collection on the embedded POS Loyalty enrol screen. I see there is one on the US dashboard.
Loyalty is great, it brings repeat customers back in store, but it does not offer a means to communicate directly with customers to drive sales ie newsletter with shop, web offers, promotions, new product introductions etc. The only way to do this is via email. If we do not capture our loyalty customers email on signup we are missing big opportunity as we have no means to contact these loyalty customers.
Hopefully an easy feature to action as it is already on the US dashboard
Many thanks 😊
Hey @doc_choc, thank you for your post 😊 I've escalated your questions to double-check if they have any insight on the availability of this feature. I'll check back in as soon as I know more!
Alternatively, you can communicate directly with customers using Square Marketing, which helps you connect with your customers with customised email and social media campaigns to promote your business. Targeted email marketing is an effective way to reach your customers and drive sales.
You can easily design custom emails, set up automated campaigns, and see how your marketing efforts affect your bottom line – right from your Square Dashboard. Read more about email marketing best practices.

Hi Skyler,
Thanks for taking a closer look at.
Not sure if there is a specific reason why it's not include, as it seems to make sense to have the option to make visible or not email collection at loyalty signup on the POS as they do on the US dashboard. Is it GDPR? I can't see why, but maybe.
There may be some rational to keep the two separate, but as a business we are always looking capture new subscribers
The problem as it stands is we can engage our Newsletter mailing list with loyalty but there is no means without emails to engage directly with our loyalty subscribers. So our loyalty customers will miss out on newsletters with promotions and discounts etc. They gain loyalty benefits but not the full array of benefits we offer.
We are currently having customers sigup to loyalty at the POS using the signup at checkout, then having them wait while we find them on the customer database, then ask them to add their email here. Much slicker if it could be added at the same point as the mobile phone number by the customer.
Hopefully something that can be looked at and added.
Many thanks 😊
Hi Skyler,
Just a quick addition, I see enrolling via the loyalty QR link offers both mobile and email options to sign up which is great. If we could replicated something like this at the POS, that would be super.
Many thanks 😊
Hey @doc_choc, thank you for your patience while we investigated your query on our end.
So our team has confirmed that we do not have a roadmap for having the ability to enable email collection on the embedded POS Loyalty enroll screen, as the UK and EU laws have stricter contact consent laws which would make it harder to enable this feature, unfortunately.
As for the Loyalty QR code, this would be considered a feature request too. But I'll pass that on to our team to take into consideration. Let me know if you have any further questions!
This consent is simple - to comply with the law you just need to add the wording to where they sign up - just the same as you have done at the bottom of the QR code print offs. it sounds more like you can't be bothered to carry out some basic checks to help your customers.
This is a major barrier to us in the UK, and can simply be fixed if the will exists to do so.
Ironically, we are talking about a customer loyalty programme to a company that doesn't seem to bothered about keeping us loyal.
I have just noticed that Square have kindly added at the POS when you add a new customer an ‘subscribe to email marketing option’. This is a massive and positive step forward. So when you add a new customer you can sign them up to the marketing mailing list with a subscribed status at the POS. You can also add them to the loyalty scheme as well, it requires an extra step where you have to open their profile and add them to the loyalty programme, perhaps the next step on the ‘add a new customer’ section is to be able to add them to the loyalty from the same screen rather saving and having to open up the customer profile and adding them to the loyalty program from this point.
This is really helpful Square. Hopefully you can keep the momentum on this and continue to develop and improve and streamline the signup process further over the coming months, with improved signup links for the website, embedded page on POS with an option to add an email field and better integration of subscriber signups on the website with the Square Marketing mail list so it’s all linked up. Thank you 🙏 !
Hi @k_atie
I was wondering if there has been any forward movement in regard to improving the email collection at POS and bringing the two marketing functions; Online Promote and Square Marketing closer?
We are still having big problems on boarding new loyalty members (as we collect their email addresses), to the point where it makes it too cumbersome to do in-store
We are using the Square Register, enrolling customers using the embedded loyalty signup on the forward facing screen (works perfectly). However we have to then fiddle around in the customer profile to add an email address, its painful to do, slow, cumbersome and not sleek or professional. Not really workable.
We need these emails as Text marketing is not available in the UK, and even if it were email collection is still a vital element for direct marketing,
Would it be possible to add an option in the dashboard to add an email signup field that pops up on the forward facing screen when the customer are adding their mobile for loyalty signup?
Also is there any movement on brining promote and Square Marketing in to one? We are currently collecting emails on the register which doesn't feed in to email collection Online with Promote and conversely Promote emails do not link in to the Square Marketing, so we end up with multiple lists, duplicate subscribers...right old mess and makes us look amateur when signing up customers and marketing to our customers.
Many thanks. 🙂
Hey @doc_choc, thanks for following up on this. I checked in with our teams again about this, and there have been no further updates regarding email collection on the Point of Sale or bringing Promote and Square Online into one at this time.
Rest assured, when we do have an update on the availability of this feature, we'll be sure to update this thread. Our product teams do keep track of the feedback and feature requests given to us in the Community, so I'll be sure to resurface this thread again with your comment.
Let me know if you need anything else, happy to assist!
We have just started using Square this last weekend, and like Philip this lack of email capture is a huge issue.
One of the main selling points of Square - Marketing - Loyalty was the ability to simplify our tech stack.
When we leave a customer to simply enter their mobile number we get no way to target them with any marketing, not even with loyalty offers - this makes it extremely difficult to justify the discounts offered with our loyalty system.
As a workaround, we are looking at encouraging guests to sign up using the QR code, but this is something that will undoubtedly have drop off amongst customers over entering it on our Square Terminals.
As Philip has pointed out, GDPR shouldn't be an issue with tick boxes or notices displayed on the guest entry screen.
Hi @SimonH I'm of the understanding that there may be some movement to address this although there is no timeline set. It will be worth the wait once implemented.
