I just added Square to my custom website and I became aware that there is no feature to reject invalid zip/postal code entries.
This is a very important feature as many websites (mine included) have been under attack by those who have credit cards, but don't know the zip codes.
There is an AVS feature, but that only works if you ask for the user's address, which decreases conversions by a lot.
I might have to stop using square if we are getting chargebacks due to not being able to reject cards that have the wrong zip codes.
I'm shocked Square doesn't have this feature, since I'm sure the charge back rate also affects them.
It certainly affects my business, since we perform the service, and then we are charged a chargeback fee, in addition to not getting refunded the transaction fee (which Square no longer does). It also damages our reputation with Square, which is very ironic.
I was advised by a manager at Square to post this so that hopefully many website owners like it and it gets the attention of Square execs in order to tell their developers to add this feature.
It seems Square mainly caters to those who use Square websites, which require the full address to be inputted -- and this is likely why they don't have the feature. Perhaps to attract and retain more vendors with custom websites, they should get this basic feature added.
Thanks,
Phillip
