Anyone else experiencing the tipping settings getting turned off despite you turning them on?

We are experiencing the option for our customers to leave tips not working. It was working yesterday but as of today it isn't. We have repeatedly tried to turn the toggle on and set our settings but it is getting turned off by the system. We can see this happening in real time, while we are on the screen. Our square is up to date.

YES! all three of our tablets have turned off individual server codes, and reverted to not accepting signatures and not taking tips. Square looks like they autoupdated and it's completely stunted our restaurant in the middle of a busy Saturday. Why is Square Tech Support NOT OPEN on weekends? We're effectively shut down right now.

Yes!  Us, too!!  We are experiencing all the same problems.  Very frustrating!  We have a small mom & pop coffee house.  Our employees work for tips, and are freaking out.  Everyone uses a credit card, so the staff knows they are losing out big time.  I would love to hear any solutions!  Why does square tweak things on weekends???!??!  This is not the first time that this kind of "small" change has thrown things into chaos.  We love square, but these glitches are maddening.

I'm having customers write in their tips on any receipt we can get to print. I'll cover them myself. I'll try to get Square to cover them... but I fully expect to be blown off like every other time Square's negligence costs us money.

Same here, all our staff are losing tips despite changing the settings back multiple times, and even trying to revert back to the previous PoS. if anyone finds a work around it is appreciated. the helpline required a code, but the code login seemed broken

We just figured out that the smart tip amounts are finally staying on if you reset the toggle switch and don't mess with it again.  Look at the screen when the customer's credit card is authorized.  We left the preset tip amounts as is.  Not sure if that helped, but I am leaving it that way for now.

This was inconsistent for me. Changing to Percentage tips seemed to work for a while, but then turned off again.

 

Not able to identify the trigger for the bug yet.

We are having the same issue too, and it's maddening and very disheartening for our hard-working staff! And I concur, please stop throwing in updates on the weekends when a lot of us are super busy! ACK! HALP!

Yes. This is obviously another bug from Square. Turning tips on will only allow a few transactions to accept tips, then they will turn off again. I have not yet discovered a work-around. Tried changing from smart-tipping to percentage and had no impact.

 

This is the final straw for us. We've had privacy and security issues, multiple bugs, and I am contacting Toast for our POS and payroll.

You'll find bugs in every POS. No work around for the time being other than to keep changing the settings back. Customer service can't really do much about it. Maybe some processing credits can be offered.

 

If you're a restaurant company, Toast will provide more hands on and technical support but it will cost you much more in general.
