I'm very disappointed to find, that after a week of moving our website to Square, subscriptions are only available for shipping and no other option is available! We're a flower farm and need an efficient way of managing bouquet subscriptions but we don't deliver nationally, so we need the delivery radius function and local pick-up options to manage who can order.
Please, please can we have the option to offer local delivery and collection as options for subscriptions? I can see that people have been asking for this for a few years now, and a reply from Square mentioned that it was on the road-map to be completed by the end of 2023. Is this still being worked on?
Hi @GeanieO, thanks for your post.
I'm sorry to hear that this wasn't clear before you moved over to Square. We do have some general limitations with Online Subscriptions and this is one of them.
I've answered some similar threads recently, and while this is in progress, we don't have any timelines or updates to share. As soon as we do, we'll let you know here.
Thanks for your patience.
GenieO correctly points out that this issue has been ongoing for some time without resolution or even a time scale for when it may be resolved.
This should be a very quick fix as it is about payment methods and not a complete overhaul, but it continues to be ignored while other unnecessary "improvements" are made.
There is not even an app in the marketplace that is a sufficient workaround.
I tried switching my website to BigCommerce to fix this and found that it wouldn't sync correctly with my square retail POS inventory. This has been another known issue for some years. Even Zapier couldn't fix it and told me it was a known issue with Square. Again, this isn't a new problem; it has been known about for years, the same as the subscription issue.
Yet they had the time to come up with fixes that weren't needed, like moving the online categories to the dashboard, which caused me more work to add new lines and issues with my site navigation that I now have to work around.
I like Square retail POS and the payment system, but we are also competing with e-commerce companies, and Square is way behind the pace in this area.
Give us what we need, not what someone who isn't running a business decides or vanity improvements.
I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that to grow my business, I may have to move providers. I don't want to do this, but necessity dictates.
