With the recent update, if I plug in earbuds to my phone I hear an excruciating, full volume noise through my earbuds. In the past, this only happened if I had the app open and not in the background. With the new update, for a while I could avoid this problem by doing the following - 1. Clock into square 2. Close square 3. Then plug in earbuds. But for now even if the app is closed, if square decides to process information in the background, that excruciating noise returns. This means I can no longer listen to music or podcasts not just only if square is open, but also if square is even installed on my phone.
I'm not exaggerating when I say it feels like the noise might cause hearing damage.

We do not have any other reports of this issue, but could you provide some more information like the device you are using and the operating system version you have?
Have you tried deleting the app then reinstalling? That might be helpful!

I've been using your app for over 4 years now. It is only after the recent update that I am having this issue.
I deleted then reinstalled the app. This did not fix the issue.

Yes this is expected behavior as out App utilizes the headphone jack to communicate with Square Readers. It may be the case that you are just experiencing this but it has been an "unavoidable" issue due to the nature of how magstripe readers work.
I am sorry that this has caused trouble. I will pass this feedback over to our team as I do think we may be able to provide alerts for Sellers like you to be aware that this could occur.

The way your app works makes me unable to use earbuds with my phone without fearing the risk of literal hearing damage. I want you to confirm again this is expected behavior.
