Is there a way to change a transaction once it's complete? When someone exchanges a size for example

Is there a way to edit a transaction once it's paid and completed? For example, we recently had a client purchase a Medium hoodie and then swap it an hour later for a Large. I want our inventory to show properly in Square but can't find how to make this edit.

Hey @spiffyspace, welcome to the Seller Community!

Once the transaction is completed, there isn't a way to edit it. If a customer is looking to swap an item, the best thing to do is to refund the original transaction. When you issue a refund, you'll have the option to re-stock the item as well.

We also have the option to process a return or exchange with Square for Retail Plus. If you're curious, read more about it in our Support Center

So I have a transaction that although the money collected is correct, the transaction should have been posted as on account, meaning no sales tax was collected, when the clerk posted it to a sales account (which resulted in a double posting of sorts) and having tax allocated twice for the same transaction, AND I HAVE NO WAY TO MODIFY THIS TRANSACTION?

I had a clerk post what should have been a payment on account (meaning no tax was charged), to posting a transaction as a sale (meaning the sale is registered twice on our GL with tax being charged and credited to the GL twice).

As we use SQUARE as our audit Journal in case of a CRA audit, HOW DO WE ADJUST THIS ENTRY SO IN CASE OF AN AUDIT IT IS ALLOCATED TO ACCOUNTS RECEIVEABLE WITH NO SALES TAX IMPLICATIONS AND THE DOUBLE HST AND REVENUE ALLOCATION IS REMOVED?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi @Jeff_at_Osprey - Welcome to The Seller Community, it's always nice to see a new face 😊

That is correct. Unfortunately, at this time there is no way to modify completed transactions. I know how frustrating that can be.

The best way to rectify this matter would be to refund the customer and charge them again.

I hope this helps.
