I thought maximum variations was 250 but I am limited to 125

Well, I have thread with just over 500 colour variations, so I broke it down into three groups, each one with about 175 variations.  The system allowed me to enter them all, but now I get a message that says "To make item visible online, decrease variation count to at most 125".  What?!?!

Is there any way that original thread could be amended to include this information?  It would have been very helpful to have know that, and saved me a lot of time.

OK well despite getting that message, it seems that all the variations are in fact showing up online.  So now my question is, why I am getting that message?

Thanks for reaching out for clarity on this. I've done some digging and can see that historically Square Online does have a variation limit of 120, whereas items added to the Square Point of Sale are limited to 250 variations. 

Would you mind sharing a link to your site item that's displaying 175 variations? I'd like to double check with our Square Online team that there haven't been any changes to the limitation, and most importantly ensure that your listing won't be negatively impacted by exceeding the limit. 

I'll keep an eye out for your response.
