Google Analytics recently updated and the process that Square has as a guide does not apply to the new way Google Analytics is integrated.
They now use Google Tag Manager and the Measurement ID can't be added in the Google Analytics section under integrations.
I need to know the new process of doing this if anyone can help me out! I know you can add code into the <head> tag, but I really want to know if I need to use the Tag Manager for the code to work.
Thanks
Great question, @MatthewKess.
Google should be providing you with both the usual analytics ID that starts with UA-, and also with the new Google Analytics 4 measurement ID. If you want to use the latter, you take that and use with the new GA4 code, then add a header code in Square Online > Website > Integrations and paste the code into that.
The link I gave above has the new script code, and you just replace MEASUREMENT_ID with the id that they gave you.
Hi ADAMB, I'm having the same problem, but your reply to Matthew was 2 years ago and now there is no Integrations page under Square Online --> website.
Hey @Tiffanyslove, welcome to the Seller Community! Thanks for flagging this to us. It's possible that the setup for google analytics has changed. Could you try the steps below and let me know how you get on?
You can add Google Analytics tracking to monitor traffic, products, transactions, checkout data, and other statistics for your Square Online site. Learn more about setting up your Google Analytics account and finding your Tracking ID in Google’s support centre.
