sku reader giving wrong price

so i have all the items and skus placed in my inventory correctly but when i go to scan the item it list the items as $9999.99 dollars when for example in reality it cost $8.00 and it does this for every item. if anyone could please help shed some light on this that would be great!

What are you using with the barcode reader ( computer, Register, Stand, Ipad, Android etc)

I found out before when I used my scanner with a PC and the Virtual Terminal it would enter the price as the Barcode it read instead of searching the SKU's.  At first I did not notice this since the barcodes I make are letters and then the virtual terminal would search the items name.

need more information.... Which Barcode Scanner and which Square System are you using?  Android App, Ipad App, Square Stand, Square Register, or the virtual terminal on a computer?   

I bought a cheap 2D scanner, scanner worked with the PC.  Would scan everything into notepad, word documents, excel, google etc.: then when I tried it with Square it would not connect.  So I let the cheap scanner hooked up to a computer to scan new item into excel to upload them to Square.  

So maybe your scanner is not compatible with Square?  

Do you have prices setup in Square for the item and a SKU ?

This way the Barcode scanner looks up the SKU then Square insert the price.

When I have a SKU assigned my barcode reader finds the item and asks for a price.

But again I can not help you if you do not say which Scanner and Square system you are using.

its running a socket model chs-7di 7pi 7xi on an air pad 2 with the square up app

I am not a Square technician but I am running an IPad so try this.

1) On the bottom of the checkout screen look for the 3 lines (tap that)

2) Tap. Items

3) Make sure All Items is selected

4) Scan the item that is giving wrong price.

5) Scroll down to see what is listed for Price.... see if it is the correct Price you want.

6) If price is correct look to see if the Sales Tax is on or off which could be giving you the wrong Price.

7) Tap Save  to save any changes

Next try deleting the item.

Then scan the barcode.

You should get item not found. If there is an item found you have the barcode in 2 times? Delete this item too or just change the barcode or price to the item.

Would you like to create this item.

Press yes.

Then enter all details including the price you want.

If this does not work you may have accidentally created a barcode with price in it, or the item has a pre-priced type of barcode.
