server error

Squsre card reader connected to phone via Bluetooth. - I'm getting the message 'cannot connect: server error' and can't find a solution - I was connected until I had to turn off my phone and since turning back on I get this message

Hi @ToniM1 - thank you for flagging this. 

 

That sounds strange - what brand and model of phone do you have? 

 

I'll leave some troubleshooting steps here for you to try that should get you back up and running, please let me know once you can go through them. 

 

Start by deleting and reinstalling the Point of Sale app, after doing so, you will need to repair the Reader.

 

Open Square Point of Sale App: 

1) Settings > Hardware > Card Readers > forget all card readers

2. Force-quit Square Point of Sale App

3. Open device settings 

4. Navigate to Bluetooth

5. Forget all Square Readers

6. Hold the button on the Reader until the lights flash red

7. Reboot the Device

8. Re-launch the Square Point of Sale app, wait 1-2 minutes and re-pair the Reader.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I use an Oppo A72 - I rebooted the phone and switched off the card reader. I discovered the problem was with the new function of using the phone itself as a secondary contactless card reader - I have disabled this function and the Square card reader now connects and is working fine. Indeed I had never used the secondary contactless feature using my phone only, so I will continue to use the card reader alone. If there are any further problems I will reboot again as you suggest
