how to add a custom domain to square up without upgrading

I have a custom domain from go daddy and I was going to connect it to my website when I was closer to opening. When I looked before it said you would need to upgrade your account to do this and that this would be minimum of £144 a year but I then had a pop up saying if it was just my domain I wanted connecting and nothing else I could pay £48 a year. I now can’t find anything about doing it like that anywhere. Would appreciate any help as that’s a big difference in price and I really do only just want the domain to be connected no other added features.

Hey @Charlotte11, it’s not a plan that’s listed but I’ve seen someone mention it before. I can’t remember what the result of that was though.

@tranguyen can you remember if that was an old weebly thing or something still available with Square Online?

Thanks for tagging @Sam_400º! There is a Personal plan that will give you the ability to connect your existing domain to your Square site @Charlotte11. It isn't the most intuitive as it is not listed under the Upgrade Plan, but you can find this by:

  1. Go to your Square Online Site Overview > Website > Domains
  2. Click Connect a domain
  3. Select Use a domain I own elsewhere. Make sure to enter your existing domain and click verify > connect
  4. You'll then see a landing page looking like the screenshot below — the option for the Personal plan is at the bottom, underneath the tables for all other plans!

When you click Try now, you will have the option to be billed monthly or annually.

I hope this helps but let me know if you run into anything else!

Hi,

Thank you for responding. This is what I saw the first time I looked and the option I was planning to do. Unfortunately this isn’t showing up as an option for me anymore even with following those steps, I’m not sure why.

Hi @Charlotte11, thanks for letting us know.

What options do you have when you follow Tra's steps?

Hi, I can only see professional plan, performance plan and premium plan. Nothing about a personal plan which was £4 a month.

This offer is available to new sellers only @Charlotte11, so that may be why it's no longer appearing, if you've had your account open for a while, we've reached out to the Square Online team to check if that is the case though but I haven't heard back just yet. If that is the case, you'll need to subscribe to a Professional Plan in order to link your custom domain.
