error with "card inserted" and there is no card

hi, guys!!

what would be the best way to clean a square reader?? 
maybe I'm wrong, but I think there is something stuck inside the square reader, and my customers can't pay, in my phone says "card inserted" when there is nothing inside, I'm assuming, there is something stuck, I wonder what would be the best way to cclean a square reader? there is gotta be a  way.

 

the product is a square reader for contactless and chip special.

What I have done is put a piece of paper around a card as I inserted and do that a few times so that paper gets between the chip and the chip reader.

We are currently having the same issue but there is nothing stuck in ours. Did you resolve your issue?

How do I delete the app on the square register?

 

Im having the same issue regarding “insert card” on my customer display. When there isn’t even a transaction

Welcome to the Community! 

 

You won't be able to delete the Square app on the Square Register since it's an all in one device. If you're using an iPad with a Square Stand, you can delete it on the iPad. 

 

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps already? These are the general troubleshooting steps recommended to help with the Register. If these don't do the trick, I would recommend reaching out to our Hardware Team directly. They can take a deeper look on their end: 1-855-700-6000.

I am having the same issue on one of my 2 registers this morning. Have tried restarting and powering off and switching to the other register. Nothing has helped so far

Hello @belmonddrivein, I am sorry you are having issues with your Register and certainly understand this is frustrating. To clarify, does it seem like something is stuck in the customer display? Are sellers not able to insert the card all the way in?

Nothing is in the reader. It appears there was an update and this caused the issue

I asked that because the original posts states that is what their issue was, something appeared to be stuck.

 

Please clarify what you are experiencing? If you are getting any error message please provide a screenshot. Have you tried factory resetting the device?
