Thanks for reaching out, @trocchioj! Sorry to hear you’re having issues with Tap to Pay on Android.

To help me understand the problem better, I’d love it if you could shed some light on the following:

  • Just confirming your device is the Motorola Razr 5G?
  • Is your device running Android version 9 or later?
  • Is Tap to Pay enabled from the Square Point of Sale App under More > Settings > Hardware > Tap to Pay on Android?
  • As mentioned by @Donnie-M, is NFC enabled from your device settings under Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > NFC?
  • Are Developer Options turned off in your device settings?
  • If the above is all correct, and from the checkout you’re able to see Review SaleCharge > Tap to Pay by Android or Enable Tap to Pay by Android, are you receiving any error messages when you attempt to process payments? Or is the device simply not recognising the customers phone/card when held against the back of your device?

Please feel free to send through any screenshots of what you’re seeing on your end and I can take a closer look. Thanks!

@trocchioj Make sure under your settings you have (NFC) turned on.  Next thing is to check permissions for your square app under the android settings menu.  I don't remember a specific one for NFC.

The quirky thing I have seen is finding the right spot of the phone to hold the chip card.  Also, I couldn't do it with a case on my phone.  Would not work for me.
