Transferring Square Account Ownership
Hi,
I'm trying to change the 'Name' on this account to organization President's name. I'm just helping set up our Point of Sale for a town event on Saturday. I thought that by verifying my identity I'd be able to set things up quicker. But I'm afraid that when we set up the organizations bank account, which may be under the President's name, it will make things confusing as right now my name is listed as "Business Owner".
I'd just rather transfer the whole account to his name. But it's saying that "
Transfer of account not available
To be eligible for transfer, your account must have Taxpayer Information with an EIN or SSN on file for all locations, including inactive locations."
When I go to the support page for this it says "Your account must have taxpayer information with an EIN or SSN on file for all locations, including inactive locations. Learn how to update your Taxpayer Identification Number."
And when I go to the next support page it says "Update Taxpayer Identification Number
If you have not yet entered your business’ taxpayer information, by default your Square account is associated with your legal name and SSN.
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and select Account & Settings > Business > Tax Forms.
Select the location you want to update.
Enter your updated taxpayer information so your Square business name matches what the IRS has on file. If applicable, you can replace your legal name with your business’ name and enter your EIN in the SSN ON FILE field."
But when I go to the Tax Forms page there are no locations listed.
So I don't know what to do. Thanks for any help you can provide.
