Square app keeps saying No Network Connection even though connected.

Hi, all of a sudden my Square app is not letting me log in, saying No Network Connection. It is connected to Wifi. I have tried 2 wifi networks and a mobile hotspot, all giving me the same message even though my tablet is connected. The Square app on my phone works just find when connected to the same wifi network.

The device is a Kindle Fire 8 running on Fire OS 5.7.1.0 with Square app loaded through the Google Play Store.

The Square app was working perfectly last time I used it in December 2024.

Hi there @beldred.  Actually, I’m surprised you ever got a Square POS app to work on a Kindle.  That hardware is not supported by Square Apps, and has not been thoroughly tested on them.  So, if you were indeed able to get it to work in December 2024, that might have just been sheer luck and something changed with the Fire OS since then.

For future reference, here is a link to the Square device compatibility page.

Yeah it worked with a side loaded Google Play Store. I've been using it for over a year on this Fire Tablet. Last use was December and it worked fine. Now it's not. The Fire OS hasn't updated, but perhaps something in the updated Square app changed. Was hoping it was a fixable issue and not that the code finally quit letting it work. 🙁

@beldred Yeah, side loading is not always reliable and, most likely, something in the newer versions is not compatible with that work-around.  If so, that would mean you need to contact the Fire OS team to see if they have a path forward, or not.  Best of luck.
