Site not secure and 404 not found

Hi everyone,

I have recently got some QR codes printed and when scanning it says 404 page not found. I tried typing it in and I am getting the security issue. I read on someone else's that if it has a www. in front of the address it can throw up the above errors however if I omit that and use HTTP instead it works fine. So my question is is there anyway I can change it to www. so I don't have to throw away my QR codes and all the business cards I've given out and have left to give out lol I didn't realise the www. would be an issue. Naively I assumed every website started with a www. I have never made a website in my life, is this a major balls up or can it be rectified to use www.?

Thanks so much

Hi @Mystic-Bath, thanks for your post and welcome to the Community 👋

Square Online generates a unique QR code for every site that gets built, in order to use QR codes, you would need to set up a free online site, which by default would have a domain with it, e.g. "mybusiness.square.site".

Having www. would not cause the QR codes not to work. The best first step here would be to through setting up self-serve orders to use QR codes to ensure everything is in order there.

If possible, can you share a QR code here so that we can take a look, thanks.

Hi my square page is https://mysticbathbliss.square.site

I am replying via my phone and I can't see how to attach the photo with the QR code? Do I need to do it on a computer?

Not to worry, @Mystic-Bath, taking a look at your site it looks like your template is set to 'Shop All' which is designed for more Retail businesses, whereas our 'Order Online template' is designed for Restaurants businesses and that is where the QR codes will work.

In this case, you'll just need to switch templates if you want to use the QR codes.

To switch templates, you'll start by heading over to your online store editor (Square Online overview > Website > Edit Site). Click the Pages drop-down in the top left-hand corner, find the Category Pages section, click the three dots, then select Switch template.

The layouts are slightly different, but all of your items will still be there.

Let me know how it goes.
