Set up for reading price embedded barcodes

Square isn't reading our price embedded barcodes.  I've tried every configuration I can think of on the scale/printer side and on square.  Is there a walk-through or guide available?  Someone who can troubleshoot this with us?  Thanks, Mandy

Hello @BKLYNLarder thanks for your post. I'm sorry you're having trouble with this...can I ask, have you used barcodes with your Square POS before? I'm not sure what is meant by price embedded barcodes; how are you creating these barcodes, or are they already printed on your items? I have used barcodes a lot in my own store, but I usually open the item in my dashboard, in under the SKU field, I use the barcode scanner to scan the barcode, and it populates the SKU field. The price is determined by whatever is type into the price field for that item.

Did you get this to work?   I know someone else asked about this and I gave basically the same links you did.  They still could not get it to work.  Then I tried creating my own barcode in the format provided in these examples for my Fudge and that still did not work.  There are no online or in Square Help actually showing a setup and configuration of this working, just these instructions that Square says works.  This is one of the reasons I keep suggesting Square has videos on how to setup and get working devices they say works.   After I tried this and could not get it to work, it made me realize I am not ordering a new Square 'compatible' scale since my current method works just fine.

I did get it to work.  I had to log out of the POS and log back in with Square for Retail.  Didn't realize we were not already logged in that way!  Then I had to remove a check number digit  and add an extra $ sign from the barcode set up on the printer.  The scanner now reads our price by weight items!
