Saving a Ticket on Update 5.57.1

I've been having an issue saving tickets since the new update has launched for Square POS.

Our normal process to save a ticket is we swipe the CC from the customer and it pulls the name and saves it. With this new update, every time we swipe a card to save a ticket, the name pops up but its also beginning to charge them. We then have to cancel the transaction. The only option is do that every time we save a ticket or manually type in the name on the CC. Very time consuming.
Anyone have this issue? And/or a way to troubleshoot?

Contacted support, they told me the issue was resolved but it is not.

@sam_MB I'm sorry you've have a frustrating experience so far. The best way to do accomplish what you're looking for is to visit Settings > Open Tickets and toggle on "Use Open Tickets Menu as Home Screen." This will allow you to create open tickets every time for your customers and you won't need to swipe a card.

The reason the app is trying to charge your customers is because we don't have a way to store a card on file by swiping - that's a feature request, so any time a card is swiped, the app will default into thinking you want to charge it right away.

I hope this helps, but definitely let me know if you have any other questions!

Before this update, we were able to Save a Ticket by swiping the card. And that is how it was explained to us when we were setting up with square during orientation. Its frustrating that has changed all of sudden with the updated Square POS.

The reason we swipe the card when saving a ticket is because it saves the Name, not because we are wanting to store the card information. Now we have to type in the Name and its time consuming when we are busy.

It sounds like you're describing open tab functionalities, which is a feature request at this time @sam_MB.

The only thing coming to mind is that you may have added a customer to the sale, and that customer had a card on file already, but the card wouldn't be charged until the transaction was finished in that case.

I'd encourage you to call in so we can dive in with you and learn more about your setup. If you reached out by email or chat before, it can sometimes be more difficult to diagnose the issue and pinpoint the root cause. Please get in touch by phone when you have a moment - we look forward to chatting with you!
