After the past few updates my reader is no longer recognized once I plug it to my phone. Other than deleting the app is there anything else to try?

Deleting the app and reinstalling is a good place to start. After deleting the app, did reboot or restart your phone, then reinstall the app. Do so will sometimes take care of these issues. If the issue persists - then a follow-up with Tech Support would be your next option.
