New reader not working with LG Stylo 5

I just received a new reader for a 2nd phone (Android LG Stylo 5) and it doesn't make a full connection with the mic connection.

When I plug it in, and attempt to check out a sale, the display reads "Connect a reader to swipe, insert, or tap".

I have to push and hold the reader to get the display "Swipe to Pay".

I can not swipe while pushing in the reader at the same time

Please help!

Got it to work - there was a hard to see cover on the phone. Removed it and it works find now
