Input GTIN with camera scan in iOS Retail app
It would be great if when using the Auto create feature you could choose to use the scanned barcode to fill your choice of the SKU or GTIN. We stock a lot of books and it would be much faster than keying the ISBN-13 in. Sometimes it ends up being quicker to use Google lens on the book and copy-pasting the ISBN from Amazon.

If you use Square for Retail you can use the built in Camera to record the SKU. As long as the Ipad recognizes the Barcode. I am using Square for retail and when your on the Checkout Screen, there is a Search box in the upper Left. Towards the right of the Search box there is a Broken Square with a Smaller Square inside it. If you press that it will activate the Ipads Camera, if the screen is all Black press the circle with two arrows to switch cameras. Front Facing / Rear facing. Then put your Barcode in the visible window and it will capture the Barcode. If the Barcode is not in your catalog it will ask you if you want to add the GTIN if it is a valid GTIN format, otherwise it will ask you to add it to your catalog as a SKU. So far from my experience normal 1D barcodes will be captured as either a GTIN or SKU, and the camera also reads QR codes.
Attached is a video of me Scanning a QR code that is what I used then as a barcode so they would all be the same size. The scanning process is the same for items not in your system you will just get a pop up asking if your want to create the new item.
I just tried an ISBN-13 barcode with my scanner and with my IPAD Stand, both found the ISBN and Both found it is a book by Guy De Rothschild, only added info I would need is Category, Price and Sales Tax. I do not believe a ISBN-13+2 etc will work for the Scanner or Ipad to read those since they did not read those from samples on my phone I found using google search.
