How can I update the name of my account?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: NAME ACCOUNT

 

My account has the wrong name because some random one decided to put the name as a fake one can this get fixed?

@Jordan_B @Welcome to the community.  When you say account name.  Is it the name that is displayed on customer receipts and public profiles or is the accounts owner name that is wrong?

 

If it is just the name displayed on receipts and public profiles you can change it like this.  

Go to your Square Dashboard 

 

Click Settings >Account & Settings > My Business > About. 

You will see Display Business Name, click edit and change your name there. 

If your account owner name is wrong.  It has to be changed by Square and it’s a 50/50 chance you will get it changed. The good thing is you said you entered the wrong name during setup and they will usually take care of that. 

 

  • Go to Square Support
  • Click “Sign In” > “Contact Us”
  • Select: Account & Settings > Account Owner > Update personal information

Prepare to Verify Identity

They will likely ask you for:

 

  • A government-issued photo ID
  • Proof of ownership (like a bank statement or EIN confirmation letter)
  • Details on the error and what the name should be

The worst case scenario is, if you are just starting out. You may just have to open a new account, but I would contact support first.
