Honeywell Xenon 1900

Has anyone gotten the Honeywell Xenon 1900 barcode scanner to work?

 

I have tried everything I know how to do and it simply won’t work.

I called Honeywell directly (based on the advice of a Square Support person) and the Honeywell support person told me that the Honeywell Xenon 1900 scanner can only be used in a Windows environment and that is why it won't work with the Square Stand and the iPad.  I have 3 of those scanners and would like to be able to use them.  I have tried every possible solution offered by Square Support and also read any posts related to this.  The scanners work fine with my Windows PC, so I know they do work.  I don't understand why Square would tell us it is compatible if it is not.  That just doesn't make sense.  If it is indeed compatible, there has to be another solution.  I would appreciate some advise.  Thank you!

Since I have been trying to help out here and see that now Honywell is saying it is only compatible with Windows PC computers according to the Honeywell support person you talked to.  I did my own research into the Honeywell Manual... 360 pages.... starting on page 56 is programming your Scanner for types of Keyboards.  Different languages, different countries and even for MAC computers.  Since I do not have a Honeywell to test or program for this application all I can do is link their Instruction manual here for programming a Honeywell 1900.

I wish this was a PDF that you could download and printout, which you might be able to do from honeywell directly.

Maybe you can read then scan PAP125 barcode in the picture below?

My point here is that it does work with MAC computers and therefore should be compatible with an Ipad through the USB port.  Even though you heard that the 1900 ONLY works with a PC.  Maybe from the factory, possibly?

Been there done that and they can’t figure it out either.

 

So it seems to be an unresolvable issue via Honeywell as they say that they don’t know how the scanner needs to be configured to work with app and square says there is something wrong with the scanner.

 

I plug it into a PC and it scans everything it looks at.  Just so by work with Square.

 

Hope others have better luck with this set up.

I got a Zebra DS-6708.... It worked but was slow and would disconnect randomly.  I went to Zebra and Reset the Scanner to factory, then it was faster and drops less even though its connected through USB??  You may want to try scanning the code to reset the scanner to factory.  I always wondered how scans could set a barcode for sound and different features.... what happens if you scan something that is also a scanner setting?  Is that possible?  IDK.  But here is a video for how to reset the Honeywell Xenon 1900 to factory.

U run across the exact same problem with my square stand 2nd gen.

Xenon 1900. 

 

Just wondering if anything has been worked out?

Since I use the Zebra Scanner and found out by Default mine can talk with multiple devices, I did see mine after being connected to a Square Stand Gen1 has The Apple HID compatible communication enabled.

Apple iOS HID Feature
This option enables Apple iOS devices to open and close the iOS virtual keyboard by double-pressing the
trigger.

I am not sure if the 1900 has a way to program it to use the Apple IOS Hid Feature.  Just mentioning this since someone mentioned Honeywell does not know what type of communication for Square Stand.
