Handheld Zebra Wireless Scanners
Hello,
Issue: Zebra Handheld wireless scanner #DS6878. When put into charging base, scanner keeps connecting and then disconnecting to square terminal.
Let me explain. All started when we upgraded our terminal after 3 years. Same type terminal, Same style just new software.
Replaced new terminal with new terminal. Still same issue.
We have used this setup for three years. LS scanner sits in base and is charged on all other computer and one other terminal. Use several different bases and several different scanners and all do the same thing on this one terminal.
put into charging base and then scanner connects and disconnects causing workability issues when checking out. Keep off the charger no issue.
Charger is USB through USB port on terminal. Again never had issues before and still have no issues on other register.
The scanner and charging base are all good, fully charged and new batteries. Had them all checked and gone through. Not a scanner issue.
Changed scanner cords
Changed all batteries.
software on all scanners updated and current.
Software on register is updated.
We scan 1500 items a day and we need workhorses. Like I said, works fine if not on charger until night time then we charge on separate charging base.
Any ideas or anyone else run into this. More of a nuisance than anything

I am having the same issue with 1 of my 2 Square Stands. Both Square Stands use the DS6878 Zebra Scanner and only one Square Stand has an issue with the Zebra scanner connecting and disconnecting, the other one works fine and both Stands are on the current versions of IOS and Square for Retail.
Things I have tried:
Switching DS6878's --- issue at same Stand
Switched USB Hubs --- Issue at same Stand
Switched Ipads ------- Issue at same Stand
Switched Stands ----- Issue at the same location of the Stand Originally (Switch problem to other Stand)
Switched Power ---- Adapters Same problem at the same checkout point
I even ordered a new USB hub (no help) and tried unplugging my USB receipt printer and use Network for receipt printer, got this idea from another thread that had this problem (problem remains with scanner disconnecting at Checkout 1 only)
Seems no matter what I try the problem only happens that the main checkout location we use.

Thanks I am glad I am not the only one with this issue. Seems the new equipment does not want to charge the same as the older equipment. This did not happen until we had to change our stand as the old software was screwing everything up. Square says they dont support the scanner I am using but I use it all day scanning 1500 items or more. Just weird the way it connects and disconnects and only when charging. The other weird thing is I can connect a charger through the charger port and the usb through the usb port. Try to charge and it does the same thing even though a hard charger is attached also.
Any help from Square would be great as we are opening another store and are seriously thinking of proprietary POS system. We already have 500,000 UPCs in square and really want to keep using it as the reports and everything blend well. But this issue as well as we can not price our products in a convenient way it is very cumbersome the way it works which causes us to go outside of square to make price tags.

I do the same thing for my Price tags for my UPC barcodes. I use my printers Software to make the barcodes to print on my custom labels. My biggest issue though as we have said is the scanner disconnecting and reconnecting. I am just confused as both my Square Stands and Scanners were all purchased at the same time. Both on the same update and versions of IOS, 1 works as it should and the other keeps disconnecting and then I need to unplug it then plug it in.
Both show up in Square as DS6707 but before it showed up as a DS2207 if I remember correctly. Even when Square saw it as the DS2207 it did the same thing only at the one location which is within 10ft of the other Square stand that works as it should. My DS6878 are older and refurbished, but both work fine on one Stand and continually disconnect in the one location within 10 ft of both checkouts? This one completely boggles my mind.
I even talked to my Square representative about this and he just told me to ask support or see about sending the system in to them for a return. He also said try a New Hub (which that did not do anything).
The reason I went with the DS6878 was for the ability to have a wireless 2D scanner that plugged into a USB source for charging.
