I am having issues making another free Weebly site - I already have other websites, some of them paid, but when I go to +Add Site, then it says "Create a website with Square" I choose to Start From Scratch, and it says "Creating your website" and then just goes back to my account page where I started.
HI, Square is the platform to create new websites, "Weebly" is no longer available for new websites.
Then why do you let people who are logged into the Weebly site click a button that says "+Add Site" and then not have it do anything?
Hello, @ConeyLighthouse - Welcome to the Seller Community!
We'd be happy to help you. Although Weebly has fully merged with Square, you should still be able to add a website. Can you please provide us with your website address to better guide you?
We will be on the lookout for your reply.
Thank you.
Super confused! Was forced to merge with square last year and they said my free Weebly account would remain free. I have gotten 2 me emails this week, one saying I have to create something and start paying. the other saying my account will remail free. How to I know what to do? I only want a free Weebly website as I do not use square and I do not rely heavily on my website. Please Help! [personal info removed]
Thanks for reaching out, @bajajudy 👋
I believe the email you are referring to is the one that is alerting you to a bill change. We previously allowed some older accounts to remain on a free hosting plan published to a custom domain, however, all Weebly sites will now be required to upgrade to a paid hosting plan in order to have a custom domain connected. This universal change went out to everyone, regardless if you log in through Square or through Weebly.
If you wish to remain on a free hosting plan you will need to change the site address to a Weebly subdomain. We can help you out with this if you are unfamiliar with how to change the address.
Some people have been changing to the Weebly subdomain option, then setting up a domain forward to their website instead of connecting it directly. The only issue is that the site will show the Weebly subdomain instead of the custom domain.
I'm sorry for any confusion. Please let us know if you have further questions regarding this update.
