Hi, I placed the Drift app on my Weebly site pasting the code into the Header Box. I have tried to delete it months now, by deleting it from the header box. Although it does not show up in the header box, months now, it still appears on my site. Any ideas?
Hi @patri. Like many third party integrations, just deleting the code from the header box doesn’t always work. This is because when the code is first executed, it often adds other snippets of code elsewhere in your site in order for it to function.
I did a search of Drift’s help and user community. It seems that you are not the first person to run into this issue. Most likely you Drift account settings are the issue; You’ll need to go to their dashboard, then to the “Pages” settings. There you will need to uncheck “Enable Drift” in a couple of places:
Save the new settings, wait a while to be sure everything syncs and try again.
Also, from what I can learn, if you no longer use Drift, you should be able to delete your Drift account completely which should disable the integration for all websites you used it in.
Keep in mind that disabling Drift via their settings will not remove any code that Drift put there. It just severs the integration. The orphaned code will probably always be there, now, unless you have the technical know-how to edit your site code, find the Drift code and manually remove it. I would not recommend that task to anyone who isn’t an expert in website coding.
Lastly, if none of that works, this is something that you have to take up with Drift technical support. Like most website hosts. Weebly/Square does not provide technical assistance for third-party integrations.
