DYMO 30346 does not always scan.

Hi,

I use the DYMO 30346 Barcodes for my products and we have many items.
I notice barcodes with a longer code do not scan, causing me having to go back through and print double the barcodes causing a waste of resources and time.

Square should have a program to block people from making too long of barcodes so this problem no longer occurs.

Thanks

Depends on what type of Barcode you are using.  If you are choosing an UPC-A barcode it only codes 11 digits and adds a Check digit.   I use Aztec 2D codes which are capable of up to 3,832 numeric digits; 3,067 alphabetic characters which is a lot more than the 80 characters permitted with Square as a UPC code.  The other limit could be if you are using a barcode generator on line and the barcode needs a check digit and it did not populate one for you automatically.  I am not sure how long your barcodes are but I think my longest one right now is 30 to 40 characters long and I have no issues.

Here is a link for you to learn more about different types of barcodes and their limits.

I ran into the problem that I created a 1D barcode and what I wanted was not what I was getting.... ie no check digit.  Or I could not enter the check digit to the item as a number in Square.  I would have to scan the barcode and use that as my new UPC.

Do you use Square to print your barcodes?  I use my printers software which works great for my needs.  There are also free Barcode generators you can use to create the save your created barcodes in a file to print as you need.

Hope this helps
