Automatic Maximum discount amount does not work

I think there is a bug need to be fixed asap.

When you set a Automatic maximum discount amount, it does not work!!!!

For example, if you set spend 25 get 5 off (max 5), by using a 20% discount rule with 25 minimum spending. The 25 minimum works, but 5 cap does not work

The discount will keep going at a 20% rate. If you add items for 30 dollars, then the discount will be 6.

Please advise!!!

Hi @koukou.  There is no bug.  I think there might be some confusion about the maximum discount.  This maximum is enforced per item, not per transaction.  In other words, Square currently does not have functionality to enforce a maximum total discount per transaction, which seems to be what you are looking for.

At this point, there is absolutely no workaround to this.  In the short term, you’ll have to re-think your discounting scheme to take this into account.  Otherwise, you can head over to the Ideate Board and submit a feature request to one of the POS teams (just pick the POS that you use). Just remember that submitting a request just starts a review process that, hopefully, ends with Square accepting your suggestion and putting it on the development roadmap.  In other words, this will not be a quick fix unless it is already being worked on.  So far I don’t see a beta test that indicates that it is.
