Set up new EE without an email address

How do I set up an employee in payroll without an email address? It seems that with the merging to teams and staff that option is not available.

Hi @blacklanternvt.  As far as Payroll goes, an email address has always been required to add a new payroll employee.  That hasn’t changed, yet.  Here’s a link to the recent announcement about being able to set up team members using just a phone ....  However, as shown in the highlighted section of a screen shot from that announcement, it is still not yet possible to add a payroll employee without an email address.

Will that change?  There’s no way to know that just yet, I’m afraid.  But since that highlighted note uses the word “yet” I’m assuming that it will eventually change.  But, for now, we are still stuck with needing an email address for new payroll employees.

Ok thank you. We must have had the ability to do so at some point, because I have one EE that I am able to pay that doesn't have an email address. He was probably added over 2 years ago, and it looks like I probably can't edit him w/o adding an address. I guess I will just use ours for those who don't have them.

@blacklanternvt I’ve done that same thing a time or two.  It works as a work-around which is all I can ask for.  Thankfully, most people in the workforce have an email address or can get a free one.  Still, I’m glad that Square is moving to allowing cell numbers as the point of contact.  It just makes things easier.
