Personal information was switched with previous account holder upon transfer of Square account owner

Anyone know how to correct this?

When we transferred ownership of our Square account, the original owner's payroll information was switched with the new owner's information. Because of this, both of them will have incorrect W-2's. Both owners were paid the same amount; however, their deductions, bank information, etc are incorrect.

After many emails, chats, etc. Square Payroll Support has been no help. Here is their latest response:

 

Square Payroll has already submitted these tax forms and we’re unable to update them at this time. You will need to file amended tax forms to make these corrections.  W-2's have not been filed yet. What are they talking about? Quarterly Reports?

 

Square Payroll may be able to file amendments on your behalf for an additional fee.  They will charge me for correcting their mistake?

 

If you are interested in having Square Payroll file amendments, follow the steps below and reply to this email.

To correct employee information as reported on your tax filings:  This does not work. I cannot access the tax information.

  1. Update the employee’s profile with the correct information, including name, SSN and address. If you’d like to edit an employee’s personal and/or tax information:
    • Log in to Staff & Payroll > Team in your online Square Dashboard.
    • Select the employee whose information needs to be updated.
    • Change the personal and/or tax information as needed.
    • Click SAVE.
  2. Provide the name of the employee in your response to this email. What are they talking about here?
