Adding an Independent Contractor for 1099

I'm trying to add an Independent Contractor to my team solely for the purpose of issuing a 2024 1099. I'm attempting to follow the instructions given by Square
https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5858-add-employees-to-square-payroll

However, the instructions don't mention anything about permissions and Square is forcing me to give the contractor permissions I don't want them to have before I can even save the Team Member. There's also something about "Advanced Access" when I try to create a customized permissions set, but I get the impression that even if I pay for that Access, I still won't be able to appropriately limit the permissions of the Contractor.

Has anyone found a solution for this?

Hey there @Oxalis.  So, you can (eventually) get to where you want to be, but it’s not exactly obvious how to do this.  Heck, every time this subject comes up, I have to go and create a test team member to be sure I remember how, and I’ve been with Square over a decade! Ha.

Anyway, go ahead and set up your employee with Team Permissions.  Then save the employee.  Once you have done that, edit the new team member.  Click the blue “edit” button in the Permissions section.  When you do, you’ll see a button that says “Remove Permissions” at the top, in red.  Click on that.  It will give you this message box:

This team member will no longer be able to access Square Point of Sale or Dashboard. This will also remove the ability for the team member to clock in on the POS or Team App.”

As long as you are sure that your contractor will NEVER to access your POS for any reason at all, you can confirm permission removal and everything should be fine.
