locations

locations

Hi,

I have over 4,000 items stored on shelves labeled A–D with numbered sections (like A10, B4, etc.). Square doesn’t allow adding item-specific locations, which makes tracking hard.

Please consider adding a “location” field per item to assign shelf codes. This would really help with inventory management.

Thanks,

@transusa Have you tried using an internal sku naming scheme and just keeping the gtin for the upc?  The only other option I can think of is custom attributes.  I guess I should ask what part of the inventory management hits the pain point.

@JJ_ ;

I requested this feature along with others years ago for I believe "Bin Locations".  We have about 12,000 items and when we have 2 on property storage buildings, a basement and a 5000 sqft attic it is hard to remeber where each item is when they come in little plain Boxes that just have an Item Code or SKU for identification.  The issue is not when they are 12 on the shelf the customer wants to buy but when the customer wants say 50 of the item.  Square shows we have 500 in stock...... but where are they?  I actually found a free app to keep my inventory locations in.   This would be so useful for businesses to know which Bin or Shelf items are located in since everything can not be on display in the showroom(s).

Here is a thread in the Online Forum asking for this... https://community.squareup.com/t5/Square-Online/Warehouse-Locations/td-p/723125

This shows I have 1 available SHRM5/Stock this is our Display Item..... we have 9 more units in our BackBarn / Row 1 Column 10 Shelf C.   In this Back Barn we have 4 rows - 22 columns and upto letter H in shelves for some smaller items.  We also have BARM 1-5 for rooms with upto 12 plus rows and again anywhere from 6 - 8 Shelves high.    Bin or shelf locations for finding more of an item is needed when a Customer asks.

Here is another articale from 2021 : https://community.squareup.com/t5/Square-for-Retail/Inventory-Management-Transfer-from-Storage-Room-...    This one I gave a work around to use Description are for Shelf Bin Locations but as you can read the comments some stated they wanted something from Square not a workaround.

This Feature is extremely important to us as we are a old school Hot rod parts shop, We have over 1000 parts in stock, knowing where they are is very important, as in some cases we have 500 items like fittings, and it can be a needle in a haystack to find them
