I keep receiving this error message when I bulk edit items:
Nothing should have changed about my catalogue! I go into the item library, select a bunch of products that are already created, hit "edit items", complete all my edits, then when I go to save, this pops up and I have to start all over! There were no interruptions during this process, no loss of internet. But this happens all the time. Anyone else??

Just something to try on your end - if you get the same results then contacting Tech Support is your next option. (The volunteers here are not the same as Tech Support and you may need someone there to look at things on the server end.) Suggest trying a different web browser to see if you get the same results. Also ensure that you refresh your browser before testing - delete your browser's temp files, history, cache, etc., then close the browser, reopen it and then try again.

Thanks, I have contacted customer support and have been passed around and around, so figured I would try here. It doesn't happen every time I go to bulk edit--just frequently--so it's difficult to test. I haven't figured out a pattern.

I get that error message at times when I am on a page too long and Square made a change.... maybe a sale or something else. I just click save again and usually I am ok. I do not know what change or changes were made. I also have this appear when I edit one item at home and get interrupted and comeback and try to save it.
Are you trying to edit alot of items that takes you awhile to scroll through?
Do you walk away from the computer at all?
See if after editing a few items if you get this and how long you were editing the pages. I am thinking this is some security type setting that Square has. I am just confused as why this is Always happening to you.

It is often a large number of items (which is when it's especially frustrating, of course). But in the case of the screenshot above, it was only about 10 products, so I was only on the edit screen for about 3 minutes.

The other things I have noticed is a pattern that this for me happens more at home than at my business. The only thing I can think of is my upload speed for my internet is slower at home than at the store. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it but with electronics and data you never know.

I'm glad you liked that answer. But although I'm very grateful that they took the time to reply, it doesn't actually address the issue. My work around is editing no more than 5 items at a time which, when I have an inventory of 2000 products, is absolutely bananas.
And I have been on the phone with tech support. Their response is an epic shrug.

Did ou ever try to Export your Items Catalog as a CSV? This is how I mainly edit my Catalog since it is painfully slow in Chrome to click, scroll, type and then save an item to repeat again.
I download my Catalog and then filter in the csv by Catagory or whatever works for what I want to do. Say Increase price 25 cents on all my soaps since my cost rose 25 cents. Get all the Soaps together in the csv, then all the prices I want to raise are also together. Then all my Bar Soaps are together which started at say $5.75 a bar, I change the top most one to $5.00 and then copy and fill this $5.00 down to the end of Bar Soaps. Liquid soap might be $6.50 and need to be increased to $6.75. I then Find that category and type in 6.75 and Copy it down the column to my last Liquid soap is the new price. Then Save the file as Upload2Sq and Upload it back to Square. I save it as a different name incase the file messes something up and then I can upload the Downloaded original file. I have over 9000 items and usually do my changes by csv, unless it is just receiving quantity then I use my Square Stand and the Inventory feature with Square for Retail. Scan the Barcode of the Item that is in Square, type in the number I am receiving and then scan the next item.
What are you trying to change or edit for your items? The Bulk edit, I found is good for only a small amount of items and not 100 items at a time. Trying to many at once before the Save is pressed, seems like something times out for security reasons. Not sure if it is a setting by Square or in chrome for the web page. I have had this issue when I read a page of text, go get a drink, or take the dog out and then the page freezes and I need to reload and look for where I was. I would try updating the catalog through the export / Import features and csv files.
Here is how to Bulk import to Square :
Yes I know this says for online but it works the same for Square Dashboard for your POS system. If you let me know what your trying to do I might be able to give you other ideas, but my answer MayaP liked was based on you just asking why the Screen Times out and you get the Outdate page error.
