Register Count by Denomination (Cash Drawer)

I have seen this idea in the older boards but found nothing new. I would love to see an option where you can enter counts by denomination and it tallies the total at the end of the count. This would be highly beneficial for an end of day count for cashiers that don't have a pen and paper/calculator (or spreadsheet) handy to total counts.

Example:

5 - 20s = $100.00

4 - 10s= $40.00

6 - Quarters = $1.50

TOTAL = $141.50

You know what else would be handy if right BEFORE entering the Cash in the Drawer the Drawer would be open to count it.  For some reason when I go to close (end) the Drawer.... Square shows the amount that should be in the Drawer and asks me to enter how much is in the Drawer.  I guess I am suppose to use my xray vision and count the drawer, or just put in the amount Square says should be in there....then type the suggested amount in then hit close and bam the drawer opens. 

So now the drawer opened for me to count the amount and see if on the previous screen I was right.

Knowing Square if they do implement the above feature Square will ask you how many :

 20s 

 10s

 Quarters 

Wait for you to enter these totals .... Then press continue or Close and then pop the Drawer open.

For some things it seems Square has you drink the water, then asks you to confirm this .... then gives you the Glass of water.

Hey @Candlestore I am sorry you are having issues with end-of-day cash reporting. In order to get a better idea of what is going on we would need some more details. This Feature would be beneficial and would be great if employee's can not see what total cash should be in drawer before count. 

They should hit Close drawer, it should pop open, Count bills and enter bill count. Then at end close drawer. it will then show if drawer is over short or even. 

Occasionally you will have a dishonest employee who will count drawer find they are over, and will pocket the over and hand in drawer and total as even. (Was only discover when I recount drawer to find it was short that I look back at camera and find employee pocketing money. )

This really simplifies counting the drawer for employees. Toast POS does it this way. I don't prefer it because I've been counting drawers differently from this for about 20 years but it would be a nice feature to implement.

Yes! This would be a cool feature! In the meantime, we have our employees download an app called Tilly Tally to their phone which allows them to do exactly this. But having it integrated would be awesome!

Not having this feature on Square has nearly made me go back to Toast. I'd really like to see this and agree, there should something like, "Close Drawer" and then the drawer opens, and a thing pops up for employees to enter the amount of each denomination (1 - $100s; 5 - $50s, etc.), and then it should total up the total dollar amount for them (or in a report that owners can see).

We really need this feature! Our previous POS system included it, and since making the switch, we've encountered numerous errors during end-of-day cash counting. This addition would greatly simplify the process for our employees, making both opening and closing shifts much easier.

Employees should have the ability to press “Close drawer,” which would cause it to open automatically. They could then count the bills and input the bill count, then the system should indicate whether the drawer is over, short, or balanced.
