Multiple barcodes for single item

I would like to be able to add multiple UPC codes to the same item.  My vendor provides for me essentially the same item, but they have different UPC barcodes on them. (Different manufactures).  I don't care to track the differences. I want to be able to sell them all as simply Item X.  

I know you can use variations, but I don't want to have 5 different variations that I have to track separately.  I don't want to have to change the price on 5 different variations.

I understand the benefit of variations and if I did want to track the differences between the specific versions, I would understand using them, but in my case one item with all the different UPC codes linked to it would be better.  The previous POS system I moved away from had the ability to add "aliases" to the item that the barcode scanner could pick up on and enter into the sales screen.

Hello @jhildenburg, thanks for posting this Feature Request.

I can definitely see how adding multiple UPC codes for the same item would be helpful. While a lot of Square's software is customizable it does have its limits. I know you mentioned not really wanting to use variations, but unfortunately that may be the main workaround at the moment.

Posting here is the best way to get ideas moving for improvements or changes. Hopefully, other seller's will see this post as well and agree that it would be helpful for their businesses as well, which can help get the ball rolling on any changes!

Yes, this would be helpful for our business.  We have some items, specifically magnets, that look the same but come from different vendors with different GTINs.  It's confusing for inventory management to have two of the same item or to create a variation based on which vendor.  Does Vendor Code work in this case?  I'll have to try it.

I would love this feature. It's a pain when an item changes it's barcode, you change it in the system, and then you order again and it's the old barcode.

I need this feature! We get items that are the exact same product but come from different regions and for some reason have 2 different bar codes.

+1 on this one, for larger retailers this comes up pretty often.
