Export custom attributes

Though custom attributes seem to be a powerful feature, the fact that they are not exported with the item library makes them basically unusable for not only me but for a LOT of people in the Square community.  I need to be able to perform bulk edits and automated tasks based upon the custom attribute values, so having custom attributes included in the export / import process is imperative.

This is a great suggestion, and I agree it would make the editing a lot easier. 

At this moment our Product Team is not planning on implementing this. If you know other merchants looking for this feature as well please have them add their input to this thread. This will help to signal that this feature request is even more important to address.

I agree. Not sure why it is so difficult to add Custom Attributes to columns that can exported along with everything else when exporting item library.

i need this thread too! this is crucial. i have custom attributes that i would like to use on a daily basis for export, but is not available. for example, i might have a - what's the point of custom attributes, if we can't export them?

for example, as SQUARE gives its own example, a business that sells wine may want to store information such as Vintage, Origin, and Tasting Notes. i'd want to be able to export this information to sort data quickly.

This feature is ESSENTIAL and NECESSARY. It isn't hard to implement, either. I've worked with PHP and MySQL in the past. With all the other junk fields already available for export and import, it would be a simple toggle to add Custom Attributes to the file. The import file process is already built for it, too. It doesn't make any sense to arbitrarily disable and hide features that are already there. Because of this, I need to maintain a separate database in Excel/VB to cross-reference, store, and bulk-edit data. There's no way I will (or ask an employee to) click thousands of items to add information that doesn't even display on the register, but would still be useful to have in a single database. All of the extra clicks cost tons of time and money.

It would also be nice to have an option for automatic image association with matching SKU to filename. (i.e. SKU "redball-234" = "redball-234.jpg")  Again with the point that clicks cost time and money, clicking to open an item, then clicking over to another folder, then dragging the item to the directory, waiting for the upload, then clicking save... all takes a lot of time. It would be phenomenal to have a bulk upload option that can automatically associate to matching SKUs.

It is so sad that it is 2024 and custom attributes are still not included in the export.

We find this to be an essential feature as well - we want to be able to input actual cost we paid for items to export in a report so we can easily calculate our profit per item sold.

We really need this feature as well. I am importing my wine cellar items into Square and can not import all of the attributes that are needed and there is no way I can add them manually....SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!

Writing here to request this feature as well. Allowing custom fields to be included in the export would open so many doors!
I don't need to be able to import them back again, I just want to use them from an integration standpoint and store the right data to describe items in our catalog.

Please give us this feature (export AND Import)!! Adding 250 books to my inventory would be soooooo much easier if I could put there author, age range, and pages in the excel sheet and upload all together!
