E-commerce Mailchimp link with Square

Hi,

I've been going round in circles trying to link my products in my online Square store with my Mailchimp account, but for some reason the items won't link. I've used this in the past with no issues, but due to having to set up my online shop in Square rather than the original e-commerce option that I had, I now can't get the shop to link. Has anyone managed to link the Square integration in Mailchimp and have the shop items available within the campaign builder?

Cheers,

Cathie

Hi @CathieLive

Sorry to hear you are having problems. My experiences of integrating different platforms is not a happy one, not relating to your issue I struggled to get inventory to sync accurately and robustly with Square POS and Wordpress. It was driving me crazy, so I ditched the Wordpress site and went for the closer integration by choosing Square online, and what a difference it made, no looking back there. Have you considered taking a similar approach and using either the Square promote packaged for your marketing online or Square marketing if you are looking at POS. Not only will the closer integration help resolve the integration issue, but promote has some fantastic automated email functionality to help drive sales. May be worth a thought but you may have other specific reasons for staying with Mailchimp?

Hi @doc_choc

Thanks for your suggestion, that's actually what I've done. I had an Ecwid site within my own website, but it was costing me a lot of money when I wasn't really selling a lot. I ditched the inbuilt e-commerce and set up my shop again in Square, which isn't as satisfying with regard to the design of the site. I'm a graphic designer too and I've managed to keep the theme of my old site as consistent as was possible with the restraints of the Square website app. My old website now has a direct link to the new Square site, which hopefully, seamlessly opens as if it was part of the old site. Sorry if that's confusing.

What I'm trying to do is link my Mailchimp account to my Square account so that the products I have listed in my Square account can be accessed when I'm setting up my email campaigns. This worked perfectly well with my old set-up but now it's simply not working. I've been using Mailchimp for years and have a lot of knowledge about how it works, it's a lot more powerful than what Square offers in terms of email and customer management. I'm reluctant to ditch my years of experience with Mailchimp for something that isn't really up to the job. I hope that explains my dilemma a bit better.

Cheers,

Cathie

Hi hear you there. The creative aspect of Square online is certainly lack lustre and is something I have raised over the years. I get a lot of pressure from our creative and marketing teams to move elsewhere. I have been resisting the move but the pressure is growing. You rightly point out that the Square mailing functionality is left wanting compare to more specialised systems like mailchimp. Again I am increasingly coming under pressure to look at alternatives.  I have been trying to give Square time to fix some of these issues, some basic issues but our business is growing and we need a system we can align with that will deliver for us. Its frustrating but so many basic things not availble my force a change, you can only wait so long for basic functionality. Good luck with the integration.

isHi @CathieLive, sorry to hear you're running into this!

To add to @doc_choc's comments, Mailchimp features and services are managed by them directly which means we can't do much troubleshooting on our end, unfortunately.

I would suggest checking out the Mailchimp Support Center or contact the Mailchimp team directly for additional help.

Hi @Breffni,

I'm not currently on a paid account with Mailchimp that allows me free support, so contacting them is quite impossible. It's very frustrating. However, I'm not convinced that the issue is at the Mailchimp end. I'm doing everything I need to do with making the connection, but the products that I have listed in Square are simply not showing in Mailchimp where I need them too. There is a work-around, but it's a bit tedious and more time consuming.

I'll keep trying and hope that I get to the bottom of it.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Cathie
