Dining Options

Square POS has Dining Options.  They are configurable and reportable from the Square dashboard.  I make use of this to label which employee is responsible for each line item. The cashier is not necessarily responsible for the line item sale, so reporting by Dining Option is critical for tabulating commissions.

Square for Retail is missing this critical information.  Dining Option needs to be include with Square for Retail.  You already have coding for it, just apply it to Square for Retail.  My switching to Square for Retail Plus has created an incredible nightmare for me in figuring employee commissions.

Again, the cashier is not necessarily responsible for the line item sale.  Need Dining Option included in Square for Retail to report this info!

If you know of any fellow Seller Community members who would like to see this built out as well, feel free to tag them in your post so they can share their thoughts as well! Let me add another thought to the Dining Options.  They are a available for defining (editing) in the Square Dashboard and they are filterable item in Square Dashboard reports.  This says to me they are an integral part of Square and the fact it is not available using Square for Retail app is mind numbing.  And the fact that the list is editable says Square realizes users make use of this besides what Square developers initially had in mind.  They have been the perfect work around for me so I MUST use the Square POS app rather than Square for Retail app.  I would prefer to use the Square for Retail app for the other benefits but cannot.  Please address this issue soon!

We are still monitoring this request and if anything changes we will make sure to let you know. To other sellers that see this feature, please “like” the post and reply with a use case that your business would have. This will help to signal that this feature request is even more important to address.

Almost 2 years later, and still nothing.  Other businesses not seeing and liking this request is no indication as to whether this is helpful or desired.  Many users will find this helpful whether they see this post or not.  There are dozens of feature requests that I cannot find in these useless forums.

And let me restate, you have a workable solution in the POS app, just extend that to the RETAIL app
