I am an optician using Square for retail. Needing to make pricetags to put on my frames. Dymo label sizes offer no rat tail design labels (think of jewelry tags). I used to use these tags when I worked at an optical: https://www.labelvalue.com/compulink-compatible-pricetag-labels-rat-tail-style-p-1235.html but considering the Dymo 450 has been discontinued, the 550 I can only use Dymo brand labels. I see Zebra has some barbel options, but zebra printers are way expensive. any recommendations?

Bite the bullet and get the Zebra- they are by far a better printer. I wish we would have started with them as we went through 4-5 DYMO (they constantly break) before we finally bit the bullet and went Zebra and we've had no issues.
I am noticing this after a lot of research. Looks like I will be purchasing the ZD411.
I currently do not have the ZD411, but I have 5 of the 420 series Zebra Thermal printers and 2 Zebra Scanners. Yes the cost upfront is higher but the reliability and the fixability is better. I bought my first 420 refurbished or used to test it and liked it. Bought 4 more ( 1 for each type of label I use) This was in 2019 or 2020, only issue I have had was the heating element went on one of the five units. Bought a new one for that model, and replaced it in 5 min or less. That was the only issue since lets call it 2020.
You might be able to find the 411 refurbished for a lower cost. Check Amazon for it refurbished. Some sellers give a short warrenty to make sure that your new purchase dose work as described.
