We own a comics, toys and collectibles store. Often times we get customers wanting to bring items in for store credit (vintage figures and comics and such). So my question is whats the best way to handle this so the books and inventory line up. I originally thought about doing a gift card for the amount we are "buying" the items for and then doing a 100% discount. So we don't run any cash or credit through the drawer but the card is loaded for the amount we spent. Then inventory would lineup and so should the books. Anyone else have any ideas?
Is it possible that you do not use that type of loaded card, you instead go into your Square Inventory tap and manually switch the items out for your own records. Than just doing an over the counter “trade” or “buy” so you don’t have to compute any numbers through the system? Therefore you will still have all the inventory lined up with what you have “bought” at the end of the year, or for referencing back to see what items are in stalk and which ones were refunded back as a trade for 100% ?
