Add internal use notes to orders

Add internal use notes to orders

Adding notes or comments to customer orders for staff use would be super handy.

I run a plant store and sometimes plants can be damaged or we are waiting on an item. After we call the customer to make an update there is no way to track the result of the conversation so that other team members know what is going on e.g. waiting till the next batch of plants comes the next week. We currently just use sticky notes on the register and hope all staff read them.

Example 2: Customers in store that need delivery for large items. it would be great to add additional notes to the order or track that they have partially taken the order etc.

Example 3: Customer calls to say they want a friend or family member to collect their order. we have no way to record the name and number of the new person collecting the order

Thanks for submitting this feature request, @ExoticBotanic. Really appreciate you taking the time to share these use cases! We’ll be sure to loop back on this thread if there is any news to share on this in the future.

In the meantime, the Customer Directory allows you to add timestamped notes to your customers’ profiles and reminders to revisit those notes in the future. While this doesn’t directly link a note to a specific order, and you would need to have the customer set up in the Directory in order for it to function effectively, it does allow you to keep a timestamped notes history on a customer’s profile that your team can refer back to at any time.

To add a note:

  1. Select a customer from your directory > click Add Note in the Notes section or from ••• at the bottom of the profile.
  2. Add your note to the field.
  3. If you’d like, set a reminder using the default times or by adding a custom date and time.
  4. Click Save.

If you’ve set a reminder, you’ll receive a push notification on your mobile device via the Square app and an email notification to the address associated with your Square account.

Hope this will help in the meantime, but please let us know if you have any other questions on this. 🙂
