Restrict Discounts on Specific Items

While this feature is not available yet, I strongly believe it should be a top priority for consideration.

We operate a brick-and-mortar store where many of our customers are small business owners. To cater to them, we provide discounts on most of our products through the 'customer group' type discount linked to their accounts. However, there are certain items that need to be excluded from any discount, such as deposits, products already offered at a discounted rate, and delivery fees.

There have been numerous instances where these customers have received items at significantly reduced rates due to the discount not being removed, impacting our profits. It is crucial that we find a way to prevent these items from being discounted to avoid any more financial losses.

Moreover, one major challenge our employees face is that the Square Registers do not display a separate line for the customer group discount being applied, unlike the Square Stand.

Our primary POS system is the Square Register, which contributes to the oversight of discount removal on those items. The applied discounts can only be noticed by clicking on the item, leading to them being easily missed. Is there a way to possibly address this issue?

Hey @jettys, thanks for sharing your feedback! 

You can add discounts to specific items or categories. Would that option work for you? That way only the products you want are discounted. And your employees won't have to worry about taking any actions at checkout. 

I don't have a register to test this on, but you should be able to click on an item and remove the discount from the item. If that does not work feel free to submit a feature request.

No this would not work for us, unfortunately, as we only want this discount applied to specific customers with a "business account" with us and not every customer.
