I am a wine retailer using square POS and launched the integrated Square online sales store successfully a month ago. I want to offer my customers an app where they can purchase my over 300 skus of wine, communicate with me and receive updates etc...
I have met with several of the Square partner ecommerce software companies. Nothing is satisfactory:
- none really integrate with square inventory and offer real time inventory updates
- I want to still continue to have the one single place where i manage inventory
- can they select pickup or delivery?
- none seem to be optimized for retail in that i have a lot of skus and again, most just link to your existing menu
- i do not want hard coding
- apparently square APIs do not work on mobile app platform
Anyone have any input or know of a solution? Thank you
Hi @wine20or Thanks for reaching out about this. Based off of what you are looking for, we would not be able to offer an all in one solution that will give you your own app as well as integrated inventory syncing with Square. You would need to work with a developer to build a payment API and app for you, then move your inventory to a 3rd party that can work with both Square and your app.
I would encourage you to review building a web page with Weebly. You can do this through the Online Store button in the Square Dashboard. You can upgrade your website through there and while you won't have an app, you will have all inventory, orders, and sales synced with Square and your physical store. You Weebly site will have a mobile view for your customers and works great on all mobile devices as well.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm here to help!
Sorry for my delay. I am trying to work with a few Square partners for the app
I launched my square online store a month ago. While many existing and new customers have enjoyed the store and I really value the integrated inventory management (I am a square for retail customer), square refuses to make some seemingly simple improvements. For instance, Pickup and Delivery have REQUIRED settings like hours, prep time, delivery time that are totally irrelevant for most small retailers. I only can deliver between 6pm and 9pm each day, 7 days a week. Pickup is 12-6pm just wed to saturday. It is impossible under existing settings, to setup like this. These pickup and delivery settings should NOT be required. I am losing customers because of this. Also, it is very hard for customers to know how to change between pickup and delivery or for me to change the default. These seem like such basic changes but does not seem like square is putting any resources into programming Online Store. This is sad because it is a huge opportunity for square to have another revenue stream and help their customer base.
